Bicentennial Park Pool will be holding their annual Underwater Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 11am to 2:30pm, which is a FREE event for children under 12 years of age in our community. Citrus County Government offices will be closed Friday, April, 14 in observance of Good Friday and Easter.
The Citrus County Central Landfill will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14. There will be No Hazardous Waste Drop-offs on Good Friday. The administration office will be closed all day. Normal hours will resume on Saturday, April 15.

Citrus County Board of County Commissioners Chairman, Scott Carnahan, will be holding a Town Hall Meeting Thursday, April 6 for the general public to attend. The meeting will be held at the Homosassa Library, located at 4100 Grandmarch Avenue in Homosassa, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
“Town Hall meetings are an informal opportunity to listen to what’s on the minds of Citrus County residents.” said Carnahan. “I invite anyone with a question or an item that is important to them to attend this meeting.”

Hours of Veterans Service Office are changing
The hours of the Citrus County Veterans Service Office are changing. Effective April 17, 2017, the Veterans Service Office will be CLOSED for lunch from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, and will accept clients on a BY-APPOINTMENT ONLY basis from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.

At the March 28, 2017 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners voted to keep the remaining Recycling Drop-off Collection Centers open. The three which have already been closed, located at Withlacoochee Technical College in Inverness, the West Side Convenience Center on Rt. 44 in Crystal River, and the center in Citrus Springs, will remain closed.

We are excited to announce that Citrus County and Inverness are now a major part of the present and future of Sunshine Gran Prix, a nationally ranked event. The Sunshine Grand Prix is an annual Professional & Amateur Cycling and Fun & Healthy Community Living event. This week long event will take place during the week of March 25 to April 2, 2017.
The 2nd edition of the Sunshine Grand Prix starts in St. Petersburg on Saturday, March 24 and ends in Brooksville on Sunday, April 2, and the Inverness Airport will host the start of the racing portion of the event on Friday, March 31, from 1pm to 6pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The 3rd edition in 2018 will incorporate Downtown Inverness; the bike trails system, and the beautiful Citrus County rolling roads, as well as a variety of healthy and fun community activities
The Sunshine Grand Prix is the first program of the Florida Cycling Foundation. The Florida Cycling Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charitable organization was established to foster cycling and healthy communities through advocacy, education, and promotion. They accomplish their goals by developing and supporting programs that engage and empower our stakeholders and communities.

Trade show vendors will be on hand throughout the day.
A panel discussion includes operators experienced at growing locally and marketing nationally, for hosting of events and festivals of all sizes (from hay rides to a 40,000 visitor agri-festival creator).
