Hernando Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee to Meet

The Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, July 20, 2017, beginning at 3:30 p.m., at the Citrus Transit Center, 1300 South Lecanto Highway, Lecanto, Florida.

Items scheduled on the agenda include:    

Adopted FY 2018/19 Hernando County and Citrus County Complete Streets Priority Projects

                 TBARTA Regional Multi-Use Trails, Coast-to-Coast, and Nature Coast Regional Connector Updates

                SR50 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Update

FREE Program: Simple Ways to Save Water even when it’s raining

The University of Florida/IFAS Citrus County Extension Service is providing a FREE program on Water Conservation: Simple Ways to Save Water. Save money and the environment by fixing leaks, installing a few inexpensive water-saving devices can save water than you think. There is even greater opportunity for savings outdoors without sacrificing a high-quality landscape. While some people go to extremes to save water, you don’t have to. Join Extension experts to discuss simple ways to save water, both indoors and out without sacrifices.  Simple strategies to save time, money and water will be discussed.

This class will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 1:00pm.  Pre-registration is appreciated.  This FREE program is held at the Central Ridge Public Library at 425 W Roosevelt Blvd, Beverly Hills, FL 34465.

July Events at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum

Guided Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Inverness

Join Us on Tuesday, July 11 at 9:00 a.m. at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum for a Guided Walking Tour of Downtown Inverness. Hear stories of early and present-day Inverness as your guide shows you a small town rich with history. Experience the beautiful lakes, parks, and quaint, walkable downtown and its the historic buildings. Even locals will be amazed by what they learn! 

All proceeds benefit the exhibition, programs, and operations of the Inverness Cultural Heritage Council at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum. $5.00/per adult, $2.00/per child. For more information or reservations please contact 352-341-6428.

Summer Music at the Museum Concert Series

The Inverness Cultural Heritage Council continuous the third annual Summer Music at the Museum Concert Series. Thursday, July 20th Brian McCullough will treat us to a duo tribute show of classic Roy Orbison and Conway Twitty tunes. Brian has been traveling and perfecting the beautiful and challenging songs of Orbison and Twitty since 1995.

The concert event begins at 7pm and doors open at 6pm. All seats are $25. Proceeds benefit Citrus County Student Scholarship Program. Please call 352-341-6428 to reserve your seat.

Citrus County Animal Shelter in Need of Donations

Due to an unexpected influx of animals, the Citrus County Animal Shelter is asking the community for help by donating gently used towels, flat sheets and bath mats. These donations will be used to keep the cats and dogs in a clean and comfortable environment.

The shelter is located at 4030 S. Airport Road, Inverness. You are welcome to drop off donations at the shelter any time during regular business hours Tuesday through Saturday 10a.m to 4p.m. Thank you for your support!
