The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners presented a Proclamation at their regular meeting on October 24, 2017, proclaiming the weeks of October 28 through November 12, 2017 as “Veterans Appreciation Weeks” in Citrus County, Florida and has designated November 11, 2017, as “Veterans Day” in Citrus County, Florida.

Our veterans in the State of Florida and Citrus County have proudly served from the fields and forests of war-torn Europe, to the jungles of Southeast Asia, from the deserts of Iraq to the mountains of Afghanistan. These brave patriots have protected our Nation’s ideals, rescued millions from tyranny, and helped spread freedom around the world.

This year’s “Veterans Appreciation Weeks” have been set aside to celebrate the 25th Annual Salute to Citrus County Veterans. Citrus County has a rich tradition of recognizing the selfless service of these courageous men and women. It is fitting that the citizens of Citrus County join in honoring these men and women whose service and sacrifice have enabled us to enjoy our freedom and way of life unique only to the United States of America. The Board of County Commissioners of Citrus County calls these observances to the attention of all our citizens.
