The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners presented a Proclamation at their regular meeting on September 24, 2017, proclaiming October 2017 as Friends of the Library Month in Citrus County. The Friends of the Library promotes libraries as a cornerstone of community education, providing opportunities for everyone to engage in life-long learning and connect with the thoughts and ideas of the world. The Friends of the Library understand the critical importance of well-funded libraries and advocate ensuring that our libraries get the resources needed to provide a wide variety of services to all ages. The group provides outstanding fundraising to enhance Citrus County Library System, collectively contributing over 1.2 million dollars since 2001. The Board of County Commissioners of Citrus County extends their appreciation to the Friends of the Library and the work do throughout the year.
The Citrus County Board County Commissioners also proudly recognized October 2017 as the Citrus County Library System’s 30th Anniversary. The Citrus County Library System was established and opened to the public in October of 1987 and presently serves the citizens of Citrus County with five libraries in the communities of Inverness, Crystal River Beverly Hills, Homosassa and Floral City. The Citrus County Library System has consistently provided quality library services to the citizens of Citrus County for the past thirty years.
The Board of County Commissioners of Citrus County calls these observances to the attention of all our citizens.
