Citrus County's strategic initiatives are part of our citizen-driven strategic plan, which begins with the County's vision, mission, strategic goals, and core values. The strategic planning process is designed to identify issues that may prevent Citrus County from achieving the mission and vision set forth by our residents.

2024 Targets for Action
The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) held a Strategic Planning Retreat on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Lecanto Government Building. The following goals were identified and are currently underway:
Conduct Five-Year Financial Analysis
Conduct Master Corridor Study
Conduct Space Needs Analysis
Implement Development Forecast Tool
Research Discretionary Sales Tax
Review Land Development Code (LDC) Protections

The following goals were identified in 2023, and are currently underway:
Construct Barge Canal Boat Ramp
Construct New Animal Shelter Facility
Complete County Road 491 Expansion
Complete Crystal River Airport Runway Extension
Complete Inverness Airport Business Park
Develop Beverly Hills/Central Ridge Park Action Plan
Develop Parks & Recreation Master Plan
Evaluate Funding Sources (Current & Alternative)
Implement Beautify Citrus Campaign
