US 98 (Ponce De Leon Blvd) Closing for Railroad Crossing Work

Category: Press Releases       Posted By: Denise Gallagher       Year: 2019

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is advising that beginning early Saturday morning, August 17, 2019, FDOT and CSX will close a section of US Highway 98 (Ponce De Leon Boulevard) between Jefferson Street and Yontz Road in Brooksville (Hernando County). This closure is necessary for CSX to replace the railroad crossing located just north of Oakdale Avenue.

Once closed, US 98 (Ponce De Leon Boulevard) will reopen after 5 days, weather permitting. During this closure, motorists will not be able to cross the tracks. Motorists will be detoured around the work zone using Jefferson Street, Cobb Road, and Yontz Road. Access to businesses, residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

Electronic message boards and detour signs will be used to assist motorists traveling through the detour. Motorists should anticipate heavier than normal volumes of traffic on these roads during this temporary closure. For more information visit .
