ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION:   AR: 16.13-2 DATE APPROVED: October 24, 2023
SUBJECT: Remote Work Policy
ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: System Management Department

POLICY:

It is the intent of the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners (“County”) to establish policy to govern remote work. The County recognizes the benefit of having the capability of a remote workforce as a tool to increase services to the citizens of Citrus County. The reasons for providing for a remote workforce include, but is not limited to space needs, the Family and Medical Leave Act, infection control, making use of contractors and consultants, Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) implementation, and disaster recovery.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Employees are required to provide all equipment and services to connect to the County’s Information Technology (IT) systems. Unless authorized by the County Administrator, Systems Management will not provide County owned equipment, software, or installation required to work from home. If use of County IT equipment is
authorized, personnel must provide a receipt for the equipment, agree that it will be used only by them and only for County business, and guarantee that no other persons will access the technology provided. If the County has issued mobile equipment such as laptops or tablets in support of the employee’s normal work, that equipment may be used remotely without any further authorization.
  2. The employee’s computer must have the capacity to perform the necessary tasks, such as a broadband connection to the Internet, using an operating system approved by Systems Management with all security patches applied. The computer must also have an up-to-date anti-virus/endpoint detection program installed. The employee is expected to bear the expense of these items and any maintenance and or repair of their computer.
  3. Employees must only use remote-access software or methods provided by Systems Management, and in the manner prescribed by Systems Management. No other software or access methods are allowed. No alterations in the configuration of the software are permitted. Systems Management is not responsible for any damage caused to the Employee's computer by the installation of the required software. In the event the employee sells or disposes of the computer, or the need to work from home has expired, the Employee must uninstall and remove any of the County’s remote-access software.
