Flood Mitigation Assistance Program

Citrus County Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Program is designed to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to homes under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  If your home was affected by Hurricane Idalia and it is not within the city limits of Crystal River, Citrus County can assist to elevate or mitigate reconstruction, please contact us at (352) 527-7520.

Things to know for participation in this program:

  • FMA is a Cost Share for the Homeowner
  • For Severe Repetitive Loss Structures (SRL) you must have four or more separate flood claims made with each amount exceeding $5,000, cumulative exceeding $20,000 – Two separate claims payments (STRUCTURE ONLY) made with cumulative amount exceeding the market value of the structure
  • For Repetitive Loss Structures (RL) you must have on two occasions to which the cost of the repair equaled or exceeded 25% of the market value – At the time of the second incidence of flood related damage the flood insurance policy contained Increased Cost of Compliance coverage (ICC)
  • At time of Hurricane Idalia homeowner had current flood insurance and will maintain flood insurance for life of property
