How do I establish my utility service?
You can open or start an account at our billing office which is located at: 3600 W Sovereign Path Lecanto, FL 34461. Phone number: 352-527-7650.
To open an account you will need:
- Billing Name on the account
- Service address
- Mailing Address
- Date you want service to begin
- Contact phone number
- Email Address (optional)
- A copy of your signed and dated lease; or proof of ownership, if you are the owner
Who do I contact for utility emergencies?
Call Customer Service during normal business hours: Monday - Friday, 8AM to 5PM at 352-527-7650. Call the after-hours emergency telephone number during non-business hours and county holidays at 727-497-5319.
Who do I contact to ask questions about my water and sewer account?
Call Customer Service during normal business hours at 352-527-7650. Email the Utility any time of the day or night at waterresources@citrusbocc.com.
What is the phone number to call for safe digging?
Call Sunshine 811 at 800-432-4770 or go to www.mysunshine811.com to start the process of getting underground utility lines marked for free. The utility will dispatch staff to mark the underground lines. Citrus County does not mark private property.
What are the County's responsibilities for water line repairs?
The County is responsible for the main line up to and including the meter. The County is not responsible for water lines and fixtures located on the customer’s property. Leaks between the meter and the street are the Utility’s responsibility. Please report such leaks to the Utility.
Who is responsible to keep the area around the water meter clear and accessible?
The customer is responsible to keep the meter clear and easily accessible to be read and maintained by the Utility.
How often am I billed for water and/or sewer?
Bills for service shall be rendered monthly and shall be due within 20 days of the bill date.

What happens if I do not receive my bill?

How much is the late fee?
Utility bills are due within 20 days after the bill date. On the 21st day, after the initial bill date, a $5.00 late fee shall be added to the balance. There are no grace periods on late fees.
When is an account shut off for nonpayment?
38 days after the initial bill date, if an account balance is not posted service may be shut off.
What is Neighbor Helping Neighbor?
The Neighbor Helping Neighbor program is a partnership with Citrus County Community Support Services, Citrus County Utilities and customers to assist customers who are financially in need. Community Support Services screens each applicant to determine eligibility to pay a delinquent bill. All customers can sign up to contribute funds into this program. [read more]
