Drop Saver Poster Contest

drop-savers-imgCitrus County Utilities, in partnership with Keep Citrus County Beautiful’s annual Save Our Waters Week campaign and the Florida Section of American Water Works Association, proudly hosts the annual Drop Savers poster contest aimed at K-12 students. The goal is to raise awareness of simple ways to use less water.

As part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ongoing We’re for Water campaign, this year’s poster contest will focus on Fix a Leak Week, an annual initiative that encourages Americans to help put a stop to the nearly 1 trillion gallons of water wasted from household leaks each year.

The 2021 theme is Fixing Leaks Saves Water. Some common leaks found around the home are leaky toilets, dripping faucets & hose bibs, leaking showerheads, and broken/missing irrigation heads. Help us teach water-saving behaviors by encouraging students to participate in this worthwhile effort.

One winner from each of the five divisions is selected from participating Citrus County schools.

  • Division 1: Kindergarten – First grade
  • Division 2: Second – Third grades
  • Division 3: Fourth – Fifth grades
  • Division 4: Sixth – Eighth grades
  • Division 5: Ninth – Twelfth grades

Each division poster winner receives $25, teachers of winners receive $50 to be used for school supplies, and winning schools receive a plaque displaying the prized artwork. Additional prizes may be awarded by FSAWWA.

Entry deadline is February 26, 2021. Email Debra.Burden@citrusbocc.com to request complete guidelines.
