Citrus County Animal Shelter Community Cat Program Suspended Through August 3

Citrus County Animal Services (CCAS) has suspended the Community Cat Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate Return
(TNVR) program until Tuesday, August 3, 2021 due to a temporary increase in veterinary treatments
and non-surgical responsibilities related to cruelty cases.
It is recommended that healthy cats found outside are left alone during the period services are
suspended at the shelter. Nationally, only 2% of cats are picked up by their owners when they end
up in shelters but are up to 13 times more likely to make it home when allowed to remain in the
community. Please allow these cats the best chance of finding their way home.
A special thanks to the volunteers, fosters, and community partners who support CCAS, the shelter,
and the TNVR program each year. If you have any questions or concerns during the program
suspension, please call the shelter at (352) 746-8400.
