Elvis is Back! Join the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum for a Special Outdoor Screening of "Follow that Dream"
(located at 1 Courthouse Square, Inverness, FL 34450) on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 6:30pm for a
free outdoor screening of their favorite film, “Follow that Dream,” starring Elvis Presley. This
free outdoor screening will be held right outside the museum on the Historic Courthouse Square. Be
sure to bring a blanket, a few lawn chairs, and a friend and enjoy an unforgettable evening of fun.
As many locals will tell you, Presley filmed much of the movie right here in Citrus County and
surrounding parts of central Florida in 1961. Spoiler alert: the final scenes of the movie take
place in the museum’s very own historic courtroom. Shortly after Presley and his Hollywood movie
crew left, a growing Citrus County remodeled the interior of the courthouse. In the 1990s, the
people of Citrus County had a dream to restore the circa 1912 courthouse to its original glory.
Footage from the film helped restore this amazing piece of our local history.
The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is a historical gem at the heart of Downtown Inverness. The
proud structure has stood for over 100 years, and although the business of the court is no longer
transacted there, it is still an important pillar to the community. It is a place of learning, a
community space, and of course, an entertainment venue.

Citrus County Historical Society, Inc. (a non-profit organization). Any donations to the Inverness
