County Parks to Reopen

Citrus County reopens all parks on Friday, May 1, 2020, for recreational activities following CDC guidelines and direction from the Citrus County Health Department.  Fort Island Gulf Beach and Hernando Beach remain closed, in an abundance of caution, pending water quality results.

Federal and state social distancing/gathering guidelines remain in place. Groups of more than 10 will not be permitted, and social distancing of six feet is necessary to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Staying physically active is one of the best ways to keep your mind and body healthy; however, we must do it safely.  Visiting parks, trails and open spaces is a way to relieve stress, get some fresh air and vitamin D, stay active, and safely connect with others.

Restrooms at all parks are open.

Let’s do it right - The CDC, as a reminder, encourages reducing the spread of respiratory illnesses by practicing everyday preventative actions, including:

•             Visit parks that are close to your home

•             Stay at least 6 feet away from others (“social distancing”) and take other steps to prevent COVID-19

•             If you are sick or were recently exposed to COVID-19 STAY HOME

•             Groups of less than 10 people –ALWAYS avoid congregating in parks at this time

•             Organized activities or sports continue to be temporarily on hold

•             Beaches, Pools and splash pads within the parks remain closed

The County is committed to the well-being of our citizens and asks everyone to do their part in getting the facts before sharing information. We are following COVID-19 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and direction from the Florida Department of Health to keep our employees, their families and the community healthy.
