Virtual Summer Camp Color Rush Registration Continues

Virtual Summer Camp Color Rush Registration Continues

Looking for fun-filled programs this summer for your kids? Citrus County Parks and Recreation continues to register young people for virtual art camp summer sessions!

“We hosted our first week of Virtual Camp Color Rush during the week of June 22nd through June 26th and the campers had a blast,” said Recreation Program Specialist Andrea Cuccaro. “We led sessions in acrylic painting, water colors, cartooning, drawing 3-D images, and oil pastels, as well as workshops on creating crafts like origami and yarn doll making,”

The division is currently taking registration for new campers, along with returning campers. The next session begins Monday, July 6th. In addition to in-depth art lessons, campers will also enjoy games online, which may include Yahtzee, Pictionary, Boggle, kid themed online trivia, and hula hoop contests.

What participants will need: A tablet or computer complete with a microphone and camera. Campers will join online video chats between 9am and 4pm with multiple breaks throughout each day of camp.

What’s being offered: Camp Color Rush is a 5-day summer art camp, Monday through Friday during the following weeks:

July 6- July 10, 2020 (register by July 1st) July 20- July 24, 2020 (register by July 16th) August 3- August 8, 2020 (register by July 30th)

Registration deadlines have recently been extended to accommodate more campers. Camps are offered for boys and girls ages eleven to fourteen at $50 per child for each week. There will be a limit of ten campers per week and the activities will change week to week so campers can enjoy a variety of fun if they return over multiple sessions.

Once campers are signed up, parents will be contacted and emailed instructions for their children on how to join the video chats. Parents will be responsible to turn in signed waivers for campers and pick up supplies needed for camp at the Parks and Recreation main office the week before the camp session begins.

How to register: Parents can register their children and pay online through a secure network at: Apm.activecommunities.com/citruscountyparks
