In my first year as County Administrator, the staff and I have come together to form a solid action plan to identify areas of need, formulate possible solutions, and have enjoyed many successes. Citrus County was one of only 11 counties in the state to lower property tax rate and reserves has been restored to almost 15 percent. I appreciate the hard work of County staff in continuing to provide a high level of customer service to Citrus County citizens.
The County Administrator oversees ten (10) county departments and twenty (20) divisions under the Board of County Commissioners and serves the Board as its agent in administrative matters.
The Administrator serves as the liaison between the Board of County Commissioners and the citizens of Citrus County.
Since 1980, Citrus County has operated under a commission-administrator form of government. The Commissioners, serving as the board of directors, are responsible for establishing policies and procedures. The County Administrator serves as the chief executive and is responsible for implementing the policies set by the Board and for the day-to-day operations of the County Government.
